EMDR Therapy

EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapy approach designed to help you heal from distressing life events and trauma. If you're struggling with lingering negative memories or emotions from past experiences, EMDR can provide relief and support your healing. When a distressing event occurs, the memory may be stored incorrectly in the brain, making it feel as though the event is either happening again or reoccurring in the present moment. When a similar or triggering event takes place, the brain is reminded of the original incident and reacts as it did initially.

EMDR helps store the memory in a more functional part of the brain, recognizing it as something that happened in the past. Once a memory is processed, it no longer provokes distressing thoughts or feelings. The memory can be recalled without discomfort, allowing the individual to live in the present without being disrupted by the past.
